Globalization and beer, what Obama drinks, and the choice for the White House Summit

Is this a "local" beer?
Is this a "local" beer?

There is a new flick called Beer Wars, which is about the economics of beer.

One blogger thought about it a little and gave the movie a thumbs up.

Another related it to the choice of beer at the so-called White House Summit.  The guests reportedly liked Red Stripe and Blue Moon.  (Or was it Blue Stripe and Red Moon?)  Obama chose Bud Light.  It seems none of these beers is American.

To my “credit,” I always thought Bud Light was an American beer.  I was wrong.

  1. I’ll check out this new flick. I’m a micro-brew fan, and in the USA “smaller/local/artisinal” beer is more popular in Oregon, Washington and California than the rest of the USA. That pic of San Miguel must be a local one; the label doesn’t look like the San Miguel I had in Spain. Tons of web discussions on origin of that one…
