The electronic fate of books and newspapers

Where did they go?

Traditional book publishing is doing the Dodo, according to Brett Arends at MarketWatch.

Does that mean we will read newspapers on Kindles?  Is it just a matter of time and Moore’s Law?

My best guess:  Newsprint will stay a while in developing countries, while newspapers will charge subscription fees for e-readability but will perhaps remain free in the online formats.  The free online format will feed the blog/archiving nature of the web and entice high-income users to pay for reading the newspapers on their Kindles.

Caveat:  I’ve guessed wrong many times before on how technology moves on.
