Late breaking news: Unnamed sources report that electricity producers in the Philippines are quietly buying rights to the sun. The street view is that solar power will soon replace the local power companies, and the latter are out “to protect our hard-won market shares.”
Background note: US electricity (per kwh) costs 6 cents in Wyoming, 18 cents in Connecticut (see Bloomberg report). PH rates are 26 US cents in Manila (at a little over P11). Solar is already cheaper than local power.
