Something lawyers do is “to protect” the votes of their clients.
One wag said that the thing to do is to “stare at” the pc used for automated polls to make sure it is “honest.” Staring seems to be effective and precedes the “blinking” of an errant machine.
But there is one so-so cure: the random manual audit. See my earlier post.
The problem for now is that few really know how a random manual audit will work in the Philippines, though of course such audits have been conducted successfully elsewhere. See Christian Monsod’s piece on the matter last Dec. 27, 2009.

Participate in the move for a clean election. One good example would be to join movement such as “Boto Mo Ipatrol Mo” “Ako Mismo” and many more. I think this is the time we stand as one not in encouraging people not to vote but instead to vote responsibly and not waste it with a few hundred pesos of lifetime poverty.

Great post! I’m just hope for a clean and safe election this 2010. And who ever wins as the race for presidency, I wish he/she can change our country from its current state. Anyway, I enjoyed reading this post. Thanks for sharing!
